WELDING
Certified welders following qualified weld procedure specifications — delivering structural integrity across mild steel, stainless, aluminum, and more.
DIVERSE WELDING CAPABILITIES
Northstar Steel Fabricating provides a full range of welding services for structural and precision applications. Our certified welders follow qualified weld procedure specifications (WPS) and are supported by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on site. We weld materials from .06" to 1" thickness across multiple material types and processes.
MATERIALS
Thickness range: .06" to 1"
PROCESSES
MIG (GMAW)
Gas Metal Arc Welding — high-speed, versatile process for structural and production welding on mild steel and stainless.
TIG (GTAW)
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding — precision process for thin materials, stainless steel, and aluminum requiring clean, high-quality welds.
Flux-Core (FCAW)
Flux-Cored Arc Welding — high-deposition process for heavy structural steel and outdoor or field welding applications.
INSPECTION
Quality is verified at every stage. Our on-site Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) oversees weld quality and procedure compliance. We offer a full suite of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to meet customer and code requirements.
Visual Inspection (VT)
Standard first-pass inspection of all welds for surface discontinuities, profile, and workmanship.
Dye Penetrant (PT)
Surface inspection method for detecting cracks and porosity in non-porous materials including stainless and aluminum.
Magnetic Particle (MT)
Detects surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such as mild steel.
Radiographic (RT)
X-ray inspection for internal weld integrity — used for critical structural and pressure-containing welds.
Ultrasonic (UT)
High-frequency sound wave inspection for detecting internal flaws in welds and base material.
We are able to handle virtually any size weldment. See our Material Handling page for details.
